Warning - Update your paypal details! (unauthorised access)

Just got off the phone to the bank after noticing our account was down close to $2000 - turns out there were 4 separate unauthorised transactions to paypal (australia) accounts withdrawing money from our account linked to paypal.

The bank is confident they'll be able to reverse the transactions (may take 21 days if funds have cleared into their fraudsters accounts)....fingers crossed.

So make sure you change your password regularly/security questions etc etc. Paypal picked up the access by a third party (sent an email to me)....but a bit late unfortunately.

I would be checking how secure my computer is, maybe some one got your log on details through you.

Also, it's a good idea to log on using an on screen keyboard rather than a physical one. There's plenty of malware that monitor keystrokes of physical keyboards but the on screen keyboard works via your mouse, so it can't be monitored.

In windows Xp you can find it in: start > all programs > accessories > accessibility > on-screen keyboard.

Once you find it you can always right click it and save a shortcut to the desktop or pin it to the start menu

Regards,

Matt

The latest norton (if it is no good - any recommendations)?

I always choose obscure passwords but cheers Matt - will look into the onscreen keyboard idea.

Cheers

PS fortunately the bank stopped the transaction before it cleared to their account so funds have been refunded already which is a relief!

Paypal is great
I use it all the time

wouldn't be without it...

no $30+ charge for International money orders etc...

A password Must be something that doesn't appear in a dictionary or on the web etc..

Banks are pretty good at times...
I don't know whether Paypal would have refunded Your money??

Only times i had money withdrawn on My credit card
was from the same place as My Austar is debited each month - Robina QLD..
I don't know who it was etc..
but My money was refunded by the bank..
