[FS - QLD] 53 Beetle

Saw this on carsales and thought some people might be interested.
Apparently one of the original 30 Beetles brought over by Regents Motors.

http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/VOLKSWAGEN/BEETLE/details.aspx?_...

If anyone wants me to look at it, I would love an excuse to go and see it.

Front apron is a later one. I suspect that when the front suspension was changed, that it might possibly have been caused by a pretty big front prang.

Air filter may be a later one (can't see it too well). The voltage regulator and fuel pump are later units.

I know the car - its owned by one of the guys in my club, and it's pretty damn nice.

It's also unbelievably baby'd (sp) - only really gets driven (gently) on club events, and other than that lives under a dust-cover in an almost spotless garage.

Stumped he's selling it actually - methinks there must be another rare VW on the way to replace it....

at the end of the day, regardless if its "original", its a bloody nice beetle that would cost a hell of lot more than the sale price to build !

Agree with IN2VWS, I spotted the lack of a starter button too, bat wing and button missing, no strap air cleaner etc, etc. Build date definitely pegged with the MKA number. Yes, it is a nice car and value at that as you can't buy and build a car for anywhere near that, but no offence guys, for me it is like having a bastard child in not knowing the parent! Some of us are past just owning an Oval. It needs to be highly original, a special model, or both. An example would be placing this car aside a matching number, wolfsburg built oval with metallic factory paint. You all know which one you would pick!

Looking at the doors you can see its atleast pre 55.
Has the incorrect tank, but has the hearts, maybe 54?
