2nd fuel line for fuel injection

Hi Guys,

Has any one fitted a second fuel line for fuel injection.

Can you get it in the tunnel?

Cheers

Yep, you may find info here, I know Hot vw's did an article recently also on replacement, but I wonder how many rattles could develop and if it could rub thru when not properly secured. I would run outside for these reasons, unless you have complete access inside the tunnel.

it may be worth checking with the relevent authorities as to the rules and regulations of it

i had to run one for my old blow thro turbo setup and i just ran one down the outside of the tunnel under the carpet pretty much mirroring the brakeline on the drivers side but ive heard since that this is illegal to have it inside the cab but under the car where its exposed to lots of nastys like rocks, speedbumps, etc is perfectly fine.....

thro the tunnel is the best way if its secured but that really is a prick of a job

Hi

On my old bug I ran 2 rubber lines front to back inside the tunnel.

I read somewhere about running the steel lines inside some PVC to prevent chafing and rattles.

I ran my metal lines down the tunnel. I just zip tied some old rubber fuel hose around the outside at various points to space it off itself and other items in the tunnel. I ran two new 8mm lines for the EFI and used the old fuel line as a vent back to the carbon cannister. Remember to flare the ends of the metal lines to stop the rubber hose blowing off if your running a high pressure EFI system.

Wes,

Very interesting.

Is it practicle to use the exsting line for the return loop - or will it be restrictive?

Did you fabricate the surge tank?

Wes used the factory 6mm line as the breather line for the carbon cannister and we ran 2 new 8mm lines for the EFI feed and return. The 6mm line will not work properly for a return as it will create back presure.

No he designed the tank to take the MAZDA MX6 fuel pump and guage sender but got it made as his welding SUX

My welding is fine, I just don't have a TIG to weld stainless :P

Besides, Dan made it for $40. Why would I bother doing it myself for that price :)

Thats how I did it on my Type 34 Karmann. I zipped tied rubber fuel line and bound the whole thing in tape to stop chafing and rattling. I used 7mm line that became the main supply and the old line (smaller) became the return. If I had to do it over I would use 8mm supply.
