Ultimate Flattery to My Beetle

Hi All,

I was in Byron a little while ago and we arrived late in the afternoon and the shops were closing. We were wandering around having a look in the shop windows and came across a shop with a heap of VW toys in the front window, then I look up to my amazement and find a print of my Ratty Beetle at 2006 Nambucca Spectacular.

I could not believe that someone would take a photo of my car, put it to print and then frame it.

I had to wait till the following day to go back and buy the print, I also found out there were Fridge Magnets, Cards and she was even the June cover girl in a Calaender featuring all different VW's. Peter Gibney was the photographer and I got in touch with him. Nice guy and I hope to meet him maybe at this Nambucca.

You could not wipe the smile off my face I felt like the Mayor of Byron, if only I had my Rat there with me.

I was flattered.

Enjoy,

David

Nice one David, can imagine your smile, cause you dont half look happy in the pic! Any Fasty models in the shop?

Similar story but my mate didnt not take his as flattery. He is a cop and went to a breakin at the ToolShed (gay shop) in Newtown and found on the wall a full size poster of him coming out of the water when he was a lifesaver....lol. Of cause we never ever mentioned it again.

Hope you enjoyed Byron will be up there soon and will check out that shop.

I love 242HP sleepers.

How many sets of lights does it take a $229k Carrera S to learn? UPDATE: Cayman S, M3, B4 now added to the list.

When my mate owned my '67 before me it featured in an issue of FF&R, much to his surprise. The owner prior to him went to the trouble of the photo shoot, etc..... but FF&R lost the photos some how. A couple of years later they turned up so they ran the story, while my mate owned the car and without his knowledge. Not really an issue, as like you he was really flattered.

Actually, if any one has a copy of the FF&R issue with my '67 in it that they would part with I would happily buy it. I purged all my issues of car mags years ago and long before I bought the '67 due to lack of space.
