My solution to the obscured speedo on 1303s

Hi

I’ve had enough of not being able to see the top part speedo in my sons 1303. So I came up with this solution, I fitted a small SPA digital speedo inside the stock speedo housing, the stock fuel gauge and warning lights still function.

I really needed to have this done as my sons gets his licence in a few months and the popo are very strict with new drivers.

The SPA speedo features,
Acceleration timer
Standing 1/4 mile timer
Built in odometer
Built in trip meter
Maximum speed recall
Adjustable backlit lcd display
Programmable button function.
Readout selectable for mph or kmh
Calibrates to any tyre circumference

They cost around $225USD plus delivery including the sender.

Nice but..

Steve, I really liked the idea of this, it was in the Electric 21 window samba project that VW commissioned as a study:-

an interactive digital instrument cluster with embedded touch pads, digital audio and video, a wide-angle back-up camera display and speech-activated controls

I bet it was a fair bit more than $225USD though!! and I wonder how that speech recognition would fair with the reduction boxes whining!

Cheers

Steve
