I'm not sure what your asking here, but I am looking for a workshop manual for my 84 caravelle. Which rocks by the way. Anyone know where to get
one in Aus? I'm looking at about $250 from the US!

hey guys
watcha wanna know?
we've got the '84 Bentley's vanagon manual (incl air cooled and wasserboxer) for when we had our '84 Caravelle
tho we now have a '90 Caravelle (but we haven't coughed up
the $250 for a '91 Bentley's manual)
personally i find the Bentley's manual is pretty detailed, though it tends to be written for a mechanic (and not a dufus DIY'er like me...
and totally different to the ford Oz factory manuals)
Brooklands Books in Sydney (Mona Vale) are the importers for the Bentley's series in Oz, and last time i checked it was around the $250
mark...
at least you can get a manual. i can't get a Bentley's manual for my Mk4 Golf cos the US don't have 1.6's

Hey, sorry to jump in on your post, but what's a good late caravell worth these days? (late '80's to early '90's)

If you want to buy a workshop manual, ring Bookworks in Sydney, 02 9740 6766. You won't get one cheaper anywhere. They import all the factory
manuals and also publish local versions of foreign manuals.
Also check your local library - go to the main branch. Look under 629.1 in the Dewey system - they may have a VW Caravelle manual. My big library here
at Bankstown does. If so you can borrow it and photocopy what you need.
Caravelles are gorgeous. The square 3rd generation Kombi is a huge dynamic improvement on the pre-79 Kombi, which itself was bloody good. If there is
any weakness, it's the 5-speed gearbox which is notoriously weak. The earlier 4-speed is fine. The watercooled engine can pull head studs through
corrosion if genuine VW coolant is not used. Never use water.
There aren't many of them around, so if you find a nice one, grab it and love it!
