Early VW Transmission wanted

On behalf of John Napier-Winch who is a motorsport historian and is restoring one of WAs most famous racing cars I have been asked to help source an early VW tranny.
Photo shows exact box though it is installed upside down as it is also reversed in chassis of course.
This is narrow case prior to all synchro version and is probably 53-58.

Also required is a Renault 750 steering box;

u r lookin for a 36hp mod. tranny which has a split case (not tunnel type) and yepp up to 1960 incl
having no synchro on first. I have one but am long way from u.
Even split kombi units after removing the reduction boxes would suit.

want any vw bits old but like me, Made in Germany!!!
