Ratio Rockers (Again)


Hi Guys,

Can you overdo it with ratio rockers (not talking about valve spring compression or adequate deck height).

Im still working on a 2007, heads 40/35.5mm, twin SU (40 or 45mm), Cam 264 duraton and lift .318 (AP3 cam).

damn that is one f**k off balance tube LOL
interesting adaption to type 3 manifolds

what cam are u running?
u have to be super carefull alot of cams arent compatible with high lift rockers and can wear badly
u cant run alot of engles with 1.4s for example

Up until now I have been running the SUs on a standard 1600 with a bit of head work (yeah it runs a bit rich - but I havent touched the engine for 10 years).

I am now looking at the 2l and have a reground VW crank (stamped AP3). The cam came with the larger welded heads. The cam and heads came off a 1835. Given the engine is larger and the lift not excessive (at least from what I read in cam charts) I figured the 1.4s might help it breath a bit. Could be wrong. Open comment.

Thanks for the pic of the manifold.
Now show us the whole kit!
Cool set up.

With only .318 lobe lift you may be OK to try the ratio rockers,
but make sure your geometry is set correctly.

ie,
adjuster inline with pushrod at ACTUAL half lift.

Short of having the cam profile checked by a reputable Cam Doctor for its compatability with ratio rockers,
I would just try it.

I.4's would be a fair start.
Remember some brands have less(scat) and some have more(Berg),
that the advertised ratio.

Disregard the test wire linkage. I unded up using type 3 parts.
