hi guys i bought a 1600s/p today and the number on the case is

F 1586450

can you help with ID of the engine

i had a look at the pistons and they read

85.05

any tips appreciated!!!

is the crank and internals all the same between 1300's and 1600's??

at some stage they added oil troughs to the cranks' rod journals (i think they also increased the crank oil passage sizes but don't quote me on that). i know they didn't have the troughs on 66/7 1300's and did have them on the dp1600's i pulled apart. when this change was made i don't know off hand.

the cases changed over time, going to dual pressure relief valves, larger oil passages, slightly different positioning of the oil pump feed hole and some casting/webbing differences. there were different sized oil pumps, dished/non dished cams, 6V 180mm 6V 200mm and 12V 200mm flywheels, differences in the rods plus prob dozens of other things i don't know/can't remember.
