KIP closings its doors? (Kombis in Paradise)
Had a PM this afternoon from a very reliable source that KIP has closed its doors ...................
Whilst not confirmed from other sources yet ...................... I hope that if this is the case that people who had a vehicle being restored there
can get a chance to get their vehicle away from the premises.
We'll all have to wait and see whether this rumour is true ......

Rumour is unfortunately true!
Unfortunately the rumour is true ..... Kombis in Paradise, a resto business on the Gold Coast has shut its doors and left a lot of kombi owners in the
lurch.
Customers from all over Australia have had to drop what they are doing and make arrangements to go to the Gold Coast themselves or arrange someone to
go retrieve their unfinished restos from a business operator that has dropped off the face of the earth in the mines of North Queensland left the shop
in charge of someone else and then decided to close the doors this week.
Many hopes and dreams of people wanting a kombi restored have been shattered and the it is best summed up by the words of a victim watching another
retrieve his kombi .... an older man almost in tears at seeing what he was taking away ...... just a rolling shell .....
There is more on a thread on another forum and I hope the administrators and mods allow me to post that link and let it stay.
http://forums.kombiclub.com/showthread.php?t=16664
The thread starts in September but heats up a little ... obviously ..... from the 16 th October post 8 onwards.
The last few days has seen many people try to contact those with vehicles at KIP to tell them that they need to get their buses off the premises.
On that note there is a list of the restos and owners that we are trying to confirm whether they have got their buses back so we can get in contact to
tell them.
There are people from all over Australia and from various VW forums so just trying to find out if there is anyone who has been missed.
Here is the list we are trying to complete and others may wish to add names or details to:
Linnie – taken away on a tilt tray to Daltrim and when finished will be transported to down to Linnie in Sydney
MarkJC –
Chino – received mid-year from KIP
Emby (Matt) - picked up his bus a few months ago but missing is a shed load of parts that he's either had to replace for rego or don't miss.....
Edwina & Roger – driving from Woollongong yesterday to pick up bus from KIP’s trimmers who are owed $10K. At trimmers not at KIP.
jhp1 -
Laura & Keith/Steek -
Ashmannn1111 -
Glenn (Otis II) – taken away after being contacted by Roy
Matt -
Glen Secco -
Dave -
Euan/Funhunter - transported away a rolling shell
Col -
Khalid (this dude had 4 a 72 Bay, 56 Split, Bay DC and a Beetle) -
Leroy - took his bus away last Monday and forwarded an email and pm informing the news to a couple of other KIP clients ..... but don’t know which
ones....... but heard from a couple that are coming up tomorrow (Friday) and over the weekend.

I have read the attached forum posts and noticed that there was alot of CA$H work being done without reciepts. I am sure the the Australia Tax Office
would love to hear about this and they get priority even over secured creditors and will chase up with lots of zeal and real legal backing. Just a thought.

The more I have got in contact with people the more crooked itseems KIP was.
Whilst there have been a lot of buses taken away from KIP there may be a few more difficult to access.
Because KIP owes money to some businesses some people can't access their kombi until they pay the money owed.
One bus is held at a trimmer's and the owners from Woollongong have to pay big $$$$ to get it back.
The start of the road blocks begins and this is where the dodginess may really come out.
He has really pissed a lot of people from all walks of life and every corner of Australia.

I think this maybe the place that apparently claimed to be an "agent" for Stan Pobjoy. I was told that he was telling people that he was fitting
Pobjoy engines and charging $5K deposits........all for motors that were NEVER being built by Pobjoy.
Apparently there's a couple of places being reported to Stan up in QLD doing this trick........."cashing in" on Stan Pobjoys name........but I
guess this is done in every industry.

This is not something I have heard .........
I think he always got a Gold Coast mechanical shop to do his mechanicals ..... but alas he often told them ..... just do this and only this and only
paid that Gold Coast mechanical shop to do exactly what he asked ..... despite what else that should have been done mechanically....... and what that
Gold Coast mechanical shop suggested.
Heard this from a couple of sources...... over the past 18 months.
Please don't read this as having a dig at that Gold Coast mechanical shop. Being told to do just such and such and only being paid

All the goings on on KC at the moment about not being able to comment on KIP fro the fear of being sued for slander are a joke. I spoke to my best
mate tonight who is a Police officer and he stated the exact phrase of law concerning it. Basically if you say something as an affected customer about
someone/business they can take you to court but they have to prove that you are lying. If you got a resto done and charged more than quoted then got
only half of what you payed done in return then you tell everyone about it you are telling the truth!!
Yes they can take you to court BUT the court will rule in your favour as you have not lied or misconstrued the truth at all about your experience with
this person/business.
I guess it certainly makes people like Dasdubber and the work that he does for the price he charges seem very reasonable with an absolute level of
quality some resto shops could only dream of.

....."Basically if you say something as an affected customer about someone/business they can take you to court but they have to prove that you are

Then I would suggest that if you are NOT an affected customer that people posting replys/comments be careful about what you say as you are
liable.Slander is what it is.....slander.

Too true. Unfortunately one of the reasons posts about this companies restos were moved on KC was that others were chipping in with opinions which
could have been construed as slanderous. VW people are usually passionate people who make passionate comments.

so are you implying that I am doing the slandering?? Cause all I did was paraphrase in laymans terms what the law states as far as "slander or
defamation of character" is concerned.
I cannot help but feel sorry for those who have a car that is stripped to bits and now have to start all over again. Kudos to Roy from the Bus Stop
with his efforts to help out those involved in this ugly mess.
Unfortunately the customers are the last in the line with their hand out for compensation after debitors/creditors all take their share....

I implied nothing. Just don't do anything that might have a negetive action to the people it is affecting, not you,but anyone who posts about it. I
reckon the whole thing sux as well but I'm not getting drawn into it by saying this and that as it could be used by others to hinder the efforts of
those who are actually involved in it.
