Ignition wires -What order?
Please can anyone let me know the wiring order for the back of the ignition switch. It's a '71 Super Beetle. The wires are these colours.
(Black, Red/black trace, White, Brown/white trace, Red and the other one I don't know that colour. If you can start with the Red wire, then I can
trace the others if in order (clockwise). Then let me know the centre contact's colour.
I hope this makes sense to anyone. Thanks

Are there numbers on the plug? usually is. then match these up with a wiring diagram. (I dont have one for a super)
On a kombi...
- big thick red one comes from fuse box and goes to 30. power to switch.
- big thick red/black to starter motor solenoid to 50.
- thick black/yellow to fuse box goes to x.
- thick black from fues box goes to 15
The colours obviously dont line up and sounds like you have more wires in a super switch, probably using it a sa piggy back to lights or something.
If you want to trace things out the numbers will still match up though. Whatever colour your wire is from starter will go to 50 on the plug etc.

There are no numbers (as there are usually) on this contecter.
I've been able to trace in the past, the wires and where they go by numbers and colours, from the wiring diagram, no problems. But this time
there is no numbers, just a connector with 6 wire ends going into the back of the switch. No clues what so ever. So really all I need is the order
from the red wire (that one was the only one still attached) going clockwise and the colour of the centre wire.
I suppose, if I could just get the colours, I could trace from the wiring diagram in the book. Yes, that might do.
I hope this makes sense.
