135s or low profile 165's on front of lowered type 3

i have just acquired some new brms that came with 135s on the 4.5 front wheels

i am putting them on my lowered daily 65 Squareback (lowered 2 inner splines at the front little bit of rubbing with stock tires) and have heard that they are a bit scary to drive on...?

i am wondering whether i should sell them and buy something like a 165/50 or 55 for a bit more handling?

what do you suggest?
thanks

Keep them, depending on your driving style and local roads, 125's and 135's can be a little scary at times with high speeds and grooves etc in roads.

I've run them for years, but you do sacrifice some handling for a little more style.

My 2 cents.

yeah i thought so much about the handling - a bit of give and take

i was also thinking about the low profile 165s for clearance issues - have read some threads on the samba where people say its more about the profile than the width (165/50 is a shorter tire than the 135 nankangs)
is this true? do you think it would increase/decrease rubbing if they were a bit wider but shorter? i suppose it depends on wheel offset...my fronts have ET23 offset

Federal makes FD1 165/50 and 165/45 not sure about the the the 55/60s.

Bridgestone also make a 165/50's (RE40 tread)
