Got a preview read on Sunday and will buy my copy at the Shootout on Sunday. Another great looking magazine. Only two issues to go and you have the new record for the longest-lasting Australian professional VW magazine of all time - Australian VW Power lasted 21 issues.

Just a couple of minor errors I spotted. Firstly, in the letters column, the young guy was asking about what year his 1500 ball-joint Beetle was. Sorry Craig but it's not a 1967. Australian 1967 Beetles were still link pin and drum brake, with small windows, 6-volts and 1300 engines. The 12-volt 1500 Beetle was not released in Australia until March 1968. Also, Aussie 1967 Beetles did not have 117 ** chassis numbers - that's Europe and US. Our '67 Beetles had 197 ** chassis numbers - the 9 meaning Australian manufactured.

Secondly, the article about the Old Bar Kombi gathering refers again to an 'attempt on the world record for the biggest gathering of Kombis'. This is nonsense. The world record for Kombis is NOT four hundred and something, as the article implies. The current record, held by the Vanfest show in the UK, is over 8,000 - EIGHT THOUSAND KOMBIS. Check out http://www.vanfest.org/  for more info.

Yep, the '67/'68 ID has been picked up quite a few times already - I'm not answering my phone for a few weeks until it settles down. Heck, I have trouble identifying my children every morning, so I've got no hope with bugs.

And yes, I have pointed this out to the Old Bar contingent many times, even sending through images of VanFest and the same link, but the 'record' thing seems to be an integral part of the publicity these days.

21st issue next February...who would have thought?!

Craig,

Another good issues mate - good to read, pretty pictures and nice 'n' thick.

I love the fact that you put everyones time, engine size and photo from Warwick (even though i couldn't make it) - its good to review and better then people boasting about dyno figures.

Hi Craig

Great issue as always, I really appreciate the fact that you put a car photo and their times in magazine, even a lowly stocker 74 bug and thanks again for your help with the entry.

I already have my holidays booked for the same time next year.

I like the increasing motorsport profile. Good stuff. :smirk:

I'd also love to see some more how-tos. Like, how to port cylinder heads for instance.
Also be good to see you interview some local VW personalities like Stan Pobjoy, Dangerous or Richard Hoszl. Guys who've been the in game for a while.
And I have to say, thanx for persevering with the mag and improving it. I didn't rate it at all to begin with but it's improved out of sight in the last 12 months or so. I think the scene is feeding off the mag as much as the mag is feeding off the scene. That's a great testament to what you are putting in.
