There are some great - and some not so good - memories there for me!
David Hack was a collegaue of mine who also wrote/photographed for Fast Fours magazine; top bloke. We lost him to cancer about three days before his
29th (?) birthday. He drove a 323 4WD (Familia) and loved the four-cylinder scene.
Back in the days before the WRX (pre 1994) probably the ultimate Subie conversion into a VW was the Vortex turbo engine and I wrote about a few -
including, I think, that one in your pics. Plus a few rotary VWs, and a mate did a yarn on a 13BT Porsche 911/912.
I think one of the Penrose lads had a rotor VW too? With suicide doors? Orange? Reckon it might have been Wayne
But the less said about Aussie Muscle Car rag and its thieving red-headed editor, the better

Very nice. Where do I get one of those DG300 five speeds?
1971 Type 3 Fasty - EJ20T
I love 242HP sleepers.
How many sets of lights does it take a $229k Carrera S to learn?
UPDATE: Cayman S, M3, B4 now added to the list.

Hi
I remember seeing the Aero Beetle with the Subi motor run at Oran Park, the owner had had a lot of birthdays.
Amazing how long the Aero guards have been around.

Mmmmmm, yeah see what you mean Pete, but about 15k was what I was expecting. In theory if I had a spare 15k could i use one of these?

They are more designed for a mid engined setup as I understand it. I'm not sure if the gearbox or crown wheel is flipable, but I'm sure hewland you
could figure something out for you...
Anyway, as you can't find a spare $15k (can't imagine why) it's all academic.
