I bought a new 'generic' stand from SuperCheap a couple of months ago, around $60, holds up to around 300 kg. It is basically the same as this one, on 3 wheels, able to rotate. I spent a while looking for a proper VW one but was advised to look at these ones, much cheaper and do the same job.

The plate has adjustable arms that come off it that act as spacers when the engine bolts to it. I haven't looked in SuperCheap lately to see if the same one is still for sale but I assume they would be similar. The 4 arms can be adjusted and tightened in whatever configuration (or even remove some of them) so that it can mate up to whatever dimensions required.

If you are concerned with the ones you see, ask the staff of you can look...thats what I did, we spent a couple of minutes looking in the box and checking the assembly instructions, thats when we found out about the arms and such. Check to make sure you are happy with how it will work before you buy, or at least confirm you can return it if it won't work for you. If you talk to them and work with them when they open the box, they will be more inclined to help and certainly understanding if the model they have is no good for what you want. Good luck!
