12V 40HP
I'm building one to keep as a spare for my KG along with a corresponding 40HP transmission.
The 12V gen sits on a 1600 pedestal which bolts fine to the 40HP crankcase but coz the gen is wider, the fan housing sits higher doesn't engage with
its with its slot in the cylinder cover plates.
I'm guessing I have to mill the base of the pedestal by about 5mm thereby leaving 5-6mm.
Anyone done this before?
I'm guessing that shouldn't weaken the pedestal TOO much. The weight of the gen is carried by more than the base, yes?

I donty recall seing that problem before when ive done a conversion
I take it yr using the 40hp fan housing it may be easier, cheaper , quicker to get a 1500 or 1600 fan housing

Oh shite!
Talk about not seeing the wood for the trees.
It would be much easier to just chamfer in the edges of the wider fan housing so it fits the 40hp cover plates than to grind down the pedestal. I get
to use the bigger fan with more blades too & I've got one in the shed as well!!
