panelbeating

hey
i talked with an ex pro VW restorer about the panel work on my splitty. He said for the rear corner damage it is a must really to unstitch the corner and panelbeat it while its out of the car cause it is hard metal to get right in the car?
i will try my hardest to get pictures of the corners and other panel work needed to explain it more!
cheers

Panel beating

Hey rhys,

I will be up in the Valla Park area from next weekend till the long weekend, for the Valla HotRod run. I am a panelbeater/spraypainter and if you like I can give you some extra advise. I know sawtell is about half an hour away.

Cheers,

Damien.;)

Hey, nice to see a VeeDubber willing to go the extra mile (or 30) to help another!

My experience with the Combi is that such work will require the removal of the panel. The other option is a puller and a lot of bog, if it's serious - don't do it! The second opinion is very valuable, though - yes, the metal in a combi is extremely thick compared to modern cars, but a competent panelbeater can pull a lot of dents anyway (although a lot of them have retired by now.)
