The super beetle drum brake fronts are the same diameter as early type 3 fronts. These are a larger diameter than beetle ball joint drum fronts.

Trying to do a cheep wide 5 brake conversion/upgrade on a ball joint front end.

Thanks

Why?

Someone in my ghia's past decided to do a frame head swap for a ball joint front end. I want to run type 3 wide five drums all round as they are wider and a larger diameter. So to do the fronts i need super beetle backing plates. Type 3 backing plates are very different and standard beetle drum brake backing plates are a smaller diameter.

If you have a set and they are definately larger than standard beetle 4 or 5 stud than i am interested.

Hi

The front drum brake backing plate from a super is 4 bolt rather than 3 bolt like other drum brake bugs.

Do you have any plates Steve?

Hi

I friend converted a UK 1303 over to discs and gave me the stubs and drums, I will ask him if he still has the them still but I doubt it.

Are sure that the drums are different to normal 4 stud drums? They don't look any different from memory.

I am sure Volksbahn had some of these backing plates.

Cheers,
