Heater Box Needed?
Looking for some advice on Heater Boxes.
At this stage I'm looking at a 1776 upgrade for my ghia. It's been suggested to do without the heater boxes and go with J-Pipes. Doing this will
allow a suitable exhaust system which will not rob the engine of its power.
I can do without heat in the car, but I've read that the heater boxes also play a big role in reducing condensation inside the heater channels.
Please post your thoughts, as ideally I'd prefer to keep the heater boxes. Is there another suitable off the shelf exhaust system available?
Cheers,
Nikos.

call your nearest VW performance place
or Cip1 in US

G'day
I am doing heater boxes on my 1916 at the moment
First the comment on condensation i think is quite valid
Unless the 1776 you have built is hipo enough to warrant an increase from stock 1 3/8" pipes to 1 5/8" or larger then heater boxes can work.
I am in Sydney and having heat that works properly is very nice
Now - if you are going to do heater boxes finding good ones is hard.
Took me a while to find mine.
Get flanges put on them.
Why Mr VW thought the $2.00 saving not to put them on and use that stupid clamp is one of my bug bears
Also consider getting them ceramic coated.
They last forever and work even better
Futue te ipsum!!!
