1962 for fuel gauges in a beetle?


did fuel gauges as a standard fitting start with 1962 model beetle? 61? 62 1/2?

i should know this but for the life of me can't remember.

From memory the 1961 beetle had a fuel gauge prior to this we used the dip the jack handle in the tank method,there was a lot of beetles around without a jack handle for unknown reasons.

thanks, i thought my 6 61 dated gauge had to be a factory thing not an accessory. (it was an option pre 61 though wasn't it?)

i had noticed the differences in the bezel but not the dial itself. with the big space between 1/4 and empty you would have to make the early gauge as the "student" version.

i don't suppose you have a part no for the early sender so i can try and find one?

my 61 had a round vdo gauge and had the sender in the filler neck of the tank,but they were probably after market jobs:?:
