[FS - VIC] PRICE DROP by $2000 1970 Lowlight Kombi Restored Rat SOLD

Seller's Name – Simon.
Suburb / Post Code – Blackburn VIC 3130
Item Description including Brand – 1970 Kombi Early Bay Lowlight Bus
Condition – Very Good Condition (see pics)
Item Cost - $12 000 ono

This is a unique vehicle in that it has spent around 20 years off the road. As such is has not had the same abuse and use as a similarly aged kombi. BEST of all it DOES’NT HAVE THE RUST that most kombis are riddled with. It is basically rust free (apart from a couple of tiny spots, which are the result of my bodywork mishaps and are surface only - these are pictured). It is not perfect but it is 'very good' condition as per the samba description of condition.

It was originally stored in a garage by a Mount Waverley man who did’nt use it and had plans to restore it. It then was completely stripped to bare metal by the previous owner who had it for 10 years and spent hours and hours doing this as well as painting parts, redoing the engine, gearbox and the suspension and doing most of the bodywork. I bought it around 4 years ago, finished the body work and painted it and spent hours putting it back together, including more restoration and acquisition of parts. I have also spent around $5000 just myself including the painting, having the brakes redone (professionally), new front seats, carpet, various parts and small jobs etc etc.

Having said that there a a few minor things that are needed to complete including - headlining, wiper blades, new horn (current horn is not attached and broken), Rear seat is only sitting there and needs fixing to the floor and the seatbelts installed. So really not much considering what has been done.

I am very reluctantly parting with her as I am about to get married and have just bought a house. This is a hard thing to do. Though its not registered i have driven it on permit and it is a seriously cool bus to cruise in. These are not getting any easier (or cheaper) to find, especially in this condition. I am on 0428 356 911. It is advertised elsewhere also so best to call me if you are keen.

Fisrt post, here.
Just wondering why people want top dollar for kombis and cant be bothered to register them,
If I was buying, and I am looking, I would not touch it without rego, what if it fails??

Oh wow, sweet as! Nice to see the metal-surrounds on the rear lights.

I'd snap this up if I was into black. EarlyBay! I've got a '69, they're fun hey, even if they are slow as!? Good to see another EarlyBay that the Splitty owners haven't pulled apart.

As black64 put it (although he with a rather more aggressive tone), I would also suggest that perhaps it'll be easier to sell if registered, then you can get a lot of exposure in the trading post etc... Maybe a thought, since it seems so close! Yeah I know it's another $500 cost for rego, but hopefully you'd get that back.

Good luck in any case dude, A.

Hi Mate Thanks for the good wishes, yeah i love early bays!
I agree with the registering thing, but its time and money at the moment as I get married in less than 4 weeks, I run my own business blah blah its been crazy few months. The plan was always to finish it and drive it not to even sell it, so we are at option 3 or 4 now which is less than perfect I agree. If it doesn't sell I will register it next year and try again when I have more time, just put it up in case someone was keen to negotiate a deal, no offense. I have already had a reasonably good offer but at this stage its still for sale.
