wanted: oval or oval split windows beetle
Hi all,
I am very interested in buying a either an oval or a split oval bug. I am no mechanic and as such it would need to be in reasonable condition, ie not
too much rust, most everything else I can handle.
Does anyone know where I could track one down? I am in sydney
thanks.

split-oval bug ?
Rumours have it that there are less than 10 in the country (not certain of exact numbers).
Christ, there is probably 100 times that amount of people (at least) that would love to own one (better take a number and join the cue)
The lucky few who own one will never relinquish theirs !
Best stick with getting an oval, you have a slightly better chance there

Oh, and there is no such thing as a split-oval bug...its either a split, an oval, or a ZWITTER, which has a split window, and an oval dash.
the shape of the rear windows on an oval, would not become a split if a bar was welded in.

I have seen a 1946 and 1947 split years ago at the VW show at Penrith NSW. I think Vic from Vicsbahn still has them and they are for sale. Both were
in a very bad state but by todays standards were probably worth repairing.
Check out this link.

I may be thinking about selling my '54.

Body practically ready for paint.
All new Wolfsburg West rubbers.
Parts to build 2054cc engine. as well as stock 36hp
Will need interior re-trim
Stock steelies and a set of Radars.
4" narrowed beam and std. beam.
BTW there's a '45 in Adelaide.
