Original 1968 Country Buggy demo film

Hi guys,

Thought you may be interested in having a look at the original Country Buggy demo film produced by Volkswagen Australia back in 1968.

We have many, many hours of archival VW films that will ultimately become available at Volks Culture when our main site goes live later in the year. In the mean time, if you're interested join our Facebook group to stay up to date.

All the best

Ash

I love the part where the CB is dragging 30 or 40 feet of fencing wire behind it when dashing through the paddocks. You need to look closely.

There is also a CB used in a Coca Cola add from the late sixties which I will organise to get up on the Volksculture.com Facebook page as well.

Well

I tried to look at the video of the CB...

it took over an hour to download 47 seconds.???

in the end i couldn't stand the terrible music... lol

I watched the 47 seconds by starting it again every few seconds....

Hi Lee,

You should be able to select an option allowing you to "View in Regular Quality" which should speed up download considerably. For some reason this clip is a little slower to download than the others on the site. If you still have no luck tomorrow I'll post on my YouTube page for you.

Ash

PS. How can you not like Chet Baker?? ;)

That's a pretty neat piece of visual history.
Thanks for the link. Lots of fun to watch.
The driver looks like Graham Hill (60's GP driver) .....even with the knee high socks.

I'm with Lee I had to sit through this back in 68 in the dealer showroom, the music is bloody horrible and the loading incredibly slow. But the country buggy did things that should have sold a million if only they could have fixed a few problems like dust entry into the motor consequently eating pistons and cylinders. I think we sold about 5 or 6 to Ike Livermore for use on Cooplacurripa station, but we had big dust problems in the engines, the other mechanicals stood up well. It is nice that that this bit of history is being shared with the VW enthusiasts . cheers Les

I thinks lots of people are using Facebook during the holiday season and bandwidth issues are the result.

I have also posted up on YouTube here: Clip on YouTube

PS. You will have to turn the sound down if you don't like the music. Original film has no sound at all.

watched it this time OK...

I wonder if they hosed the salt off it.. lol

the country buggy always looks very wide...

I think a fibreglass canopy as standard would have helped sales..

as its very hot in the Aussie sun...

and wet when it rains... lol

LEE

for the time to make this long doco...
many better things could have been shown....
outback and property owners couldn't care about driving thru salt water... lol Lee
