Rear bumper I think needs a little work to make the lid? shut easily, it touches on the bumper

My plans oneday is to give her a complete respray in original colours and new rubber seals etc... for now she looks pretty nice
Not an Australian built car, made in Germany,
is this still called a type 1?

The thing that caught my eye with this car is how original and unmolested it is, no cut dash for radio or speakers, no mags, no etc...
I'm pretty happy with her.

That is one nice original looking bug. Welcome to AVD. I had a similar problem with my rear bumper. Try loosening the brackets and slide the bumper
back and check that the little bumper blades are in between the bumper and the bracket. They act as a spacer and help the bumper stay aligned.

Hi Des, nice car, I espesially like the originality, and the steering lock/ignition key, if it is still og paint, keep it that way, it'll always be worth heaps more.
Yes still a type 1.

Gee that looks like the first beetle I had when I was in Tassies, nearly 20 years ago.

Yep my plans are to keep it pure and original, 6 volts and all.
I may down the track fit some chrome driving lights, a little flower holder etc...
but that's about it.
just tidy it up a bit and enjoy it on nice sunny days.

Looks like a one owner car before you got her, dont see many early beetles with the interior in that good a condition. must not have been driven much,
the carpet is in amazing shape I would say the car did not come out of the garage a lot! Glad to hear you going to keep her original, a wonderful
piece of history for yourself and others to enjoy!

Was indeed a one family owner bug. The paint Des is original mostly, it wiuld be a shame to let a body shop at that mate, it would surely de value it.
I loved driving it,and it always bought so many comments from people. Im so glad ypu like it so much!!!

Yes you are probably right, as it lives inside and only gets driven once a week the paint isnt really too bad,
You know I've had so many people comment on how nice it is, want to take a picture,
Never had that in a Mercedes, Audi, Bentley.
I had the funniest moment the other day,
I was down at Richmond in the Beetle, parked outside the lollie shop and this bloke pulls up beside me in his Beetle, we start talking me asks me my
name, I say Des....he laughs. his name was Des as well!!
with Des-999 on his number plates, small world hey?
Had a new fan belt fitted oil change, other than that haven't had to do much to her. tighten up a few loose screws.
But yes a super car, and thanks
