Parts questions

I'm fairly new to Beetle's, what is the parts supply, if any like from Volkswagen?

I have been into Mercedes for years where you can walk into any dealership, give them your cars VIN number and they can pull up the electronic parts catalogue and order any part for you, no matter how old you car is.

say you want a headlight, grille, mirror, no problem
you can have any part, new steering wheel, etc.. provided you have the cash to pay for it.

What is the story with Volkswagen?

I am the sort of person who likes to use genuine parts as much as possible, even if they are more expensive than after market, as I like to keep my cars original and pure.

Or is it all from after market suppliers?

any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Des

If its anything older than 7 or so years forget about it from a Volkswagen Dealer selling new cars

From yr avatar looks like you havea pre 67 bug so you will be dealing with aftermarket VW suppliers

there are several around who still have Genuine VW parts or the alternate best aftermarket than can be found

And some sell complete n utter junk
