My 1978 Karmann Beetle

Hi everyone,
South East Queensland subscribers will know this Beetle but, as a new user of AUSSIEVEEDUBBERS I thought I'd share some pics of my car for the general population.
First of all, I'm a VW purist through and through. I'm not into lowered suspensions, chrome wheels etc etc but I DO respect owners of VW's whose interests lean that way,
This is an original right hand drive vehicle which, following an exhaustive search, I bought in the UK and shipped over here 4 years ago. I am the second owner. The first owner kept the car under rugs during the winter months and used it sparingly in the good weather. It had travelled 11,500 miles when i became the second owner in 2005. The provenance is impeccable.
78 CAB is now up to 15,500 miles and for the past 4 years has only ventured out for shows and services.
This is a car which has:-
Original paint:- Colibri green...L99Y
Original hood
Untouched interior with Blaupunkt radio/ cassette
GT style sports rims (M976)
Immaculate Chrome...etc etc
!978 fitted Kamei spoiler and (rare as hens teeth) Kamei tunnel console.
Colour Co-ordinated Cibie spotlights (a period item from the 70's)
This is a multi trophy winner both in OZ and the UK. It has won it's class in many VW shows and has won 'best modern' (1971 onwards) at the prestigious RACQ Motorfest for the past 3 years.
The car has featured in many magazines and the media. In Australia, VW MAGAZINE AUSTRALIA and UNIQUE CARS have both done feature articles
As a hobby I collect almost anything to do with VW Beetle Cabrios. I have a collection of about 250 items including toys, die cast models, money boxes, kits, jigsaw puzzles, pin badges, silk tie.....you name it, I've probably got it! The car and Collection featured on ABC TV's 'Collectors' in 2008.
I'm always keen to talk to other VW owners especially those with Karmann Beetles
Cheers
Julian

I recognise that car, and it looks lovely! It was only a few weeks ago when I mentioned it to a visitor (from Australia) that came to visit us at Karmann Konnection.

Best regards from the UK
