From memory it needed the bottom 3" of the whole ute replaced, it was cactus, and the only straight bits were full of bog. Am not surprised someone
wanted to offload it - it is a BIG job..

Is da ute...
Nope, it is the ute, I took heaps of photos of it as a mate was interested whilst it was at tamborine - I guess we have different opinions as to what
we constitute a big job and rusty and what lies beneath the crappy paint - but if you are buying it, then good luck and hope to see some photos.
Cheers

Up for Sale again!
Well this vehicle has come up for sale again.
It is on ebay again and is now searching for its 4th owner of just 2009.
The first owner was at Tamborine and itwas sold on ebay for $1500.
The buyer from Redcliffe then listed it on ebay again and sold it for $4305.
The current and third owner from Brown Plains has it listed on ebay for the Buy It Now price of $9800. ........ with a rather slick ad.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170300555677
There are two offers pending on this vehicle ........ WTF!
Where is the integrity and honesty of the seller?
At the moment some people are buying this vehicle and finding a few "surprises" then putting it up for sale very quickly.
Some buyers are finding the project is beyond their capability then try to recoup what they paid for it and pass it on to the next buyer who is
usually buying with their heart rather than with their head.
The guy at Tamborine was hoping for $1500 but would have taken anything over $1200. That's what he told the person making the enquiry ( amember of
several VW Forums and a good mate of mine)
Probably the best thing we can do is to post the known factual history of this vehicle so that any potential buyer is aware of what is in front of
them and then they can decide whether they wish to hand over the money the seller is asking for.
I am sure the Mods are sick of posting "Buyer Beware" as so many people purchase through their heart ignoring advice. Then it is only the Buyer's
fault.
As for the issue of "Flippers" and 'flipping' vehicles on ....... well that is an entirely different issue which raises the question of ethics and
human decency in passing on a vehicle at a higher price knowing that there are indeed major problems.
I personally could not do it ....... as many other friends I have made in this close VW community.
Just remember the VW community is small and inter-connected through the many different forums that bring people together at shows and other events.
People talk and Flippers and suspect Vehicles amongst other things are often the topics of conversation, especially if people feel that an injustice
has been committed.
The VW community rely on the honesty and integrity of others and frown upon people who don't show the same level of honesty and integrity.
Just some food for thought!

Ok, I was stoked when i found this Ute because it still had some rego on it and I was gonna drive it back to Sydney, but someone beat me to it. Since
then i have been following its various owners and the latest one is a total douche. No apologies, he's a straight up liar. These are my various
correspondents with this guy
Me:
Have you done anything about the rust in the subframe? Or have you just given this thing a service and thought you could sell it on for twice the
price you paid for it?
The guy:
Over twice the price I payed as you know what I payed for it and yes all the subframes have been done along with hub seals engine running like a bag
of shit. Not charging handbreaks stearing collem lose.New rotter new seals new pads shall I go on.Oh and not thought I can sell if for twice the price
I will because if it dont sell.It going export to the UK.Thanks
Me:
wow you must be quite talented having welded up all the rust spots in the frame and replaced the rusted out sills. That is something I would mention
in my listing, it would be quite a selling point. You're either a great panel beater or just really good with your tub of bog. Awsome another great
aussie kombi going to the f#^king poms.
That Guy:
Idiot pommie as you say paymore than this so thats nice and yes I send as much stuff out as I can.Im only selling this here as you lot like UTE's
????????.Oh yer thanks for saying im talented.
//
No way did he do that work in the space of literally a week. He is really quite brazen.
Maybe I was a bit harsh with him, but really come on!! The nerve of this guy!!

Yeah, judging by his opion of Aussies, he thinks everyone is an idiot except him and won't look underneath the car . Maybe. You can't fix that much rust properly in one week, not possible.
Unless he had it on Overhaulin or something and Chip Foose and 20 other guys were involved.

A comment like that makes people from afar feel a bit more at ease when they know they can't get there to check it in the flesh anyway, bit more
likely to bid on the unknown.

I feel suitably chastised, specialy as I know sweet F A about these things (welding and such), I agree that anyone can do whatever they like with
their own posesions, however I do stand by my comment "A comment like that makes people from afar feel a bit more at ease" should have added that
the invitation leaves it open for those who do look hands on can tell just what they are bidding on, so alls fair in that case.

Simple fix, post some picctures of the work you did before you put the paint on, ie of the welded areas. Thtat way people can see that it is done and
will no doubt happily admit it has changed from when they last inspected it.
Nothing wrong with being a "flipper" If I could find someone to "flip" my projects for me I would happily pay them to do so.

Its kind of insulting to see something like this go on. We watch what comes up for sale and we're not idiots, don't think that by putting an esky on
the front seat and calling it a retro ride makes us buy without thinking twice. That said it is a cool car and whoever gets it whether it be an Aussie
or a Pom, they'll be pretty chuffed.
