tyres and geny wanted TYRES ONLY NOW
Just in case I need it, and when I get it checked on Monday it's a sure bet I do, I'm looking for a 12v Geny, looks like mine has decided it's
reached its' use by date. Maybe this is a good time to go the alternator rout, whatcha reckon?.Also looking for a couple of 235 60 R14 tyres, not
recaps as thats the reason I'm looking for new ones, probably need to be reasonably close to Newie, 2nd hand would do but with a reasonable amount of
tread and in good roadworthy condition.
Thanks
Don

Hmm, maybe after the Oz day holiday, but what about the Alternator idea, how much work involved as I already have one on a "spare motor I have?

Fairly simple Don
if anything Is simple on a VW engine.. lol
If Your engine has a doghouse oil cooler and wider fan..
then the alternator should fit straight in...
Ifthe alternator only has two connections...
the small push on connector goes direct to the charging lamp in the speedo..
the larger connection goes direct to the battery..
You won't need the voltage regulator with an alternator with a built in regulator.. or even an alternator without a built in alternator... they have
small regulators..
check out changing to an alternator at rob & daves website ; http://www.vw-resource.com/
cheers
Lee
PS: the brushes in Your generator may have worn down..
another fairly simple fix.... [Ian could do it..lol]
