Any ideas?
Hey all,
Im a new member here, great to meet you all.
I bought a '69 type 3 fastback about 6 months ago which is in amazing condition... I'll try to get some pics on here when i get some time... It's
roadworthy and ready to be registered, all i need are the 2 small side indicator lenses, can't get it rego'd till they're on there i have been searching for about 2 months now and cant find any.
I live in the brisbane area and I really need to get the car registered for work and home purposes. Does anybody have any for sale? or know where I
can get them?
Thanks you to anybody that can help me, and great to meet you all

If they are red/clear ones they are parkers. If they are amber they are indicators. Which way are they wired? Standard they are parkers and weren't
really used as such in OZ. They were glorified ornaments! Lenses are available new but be prepared for the shock when you see the price! Check
with whatever the supplier is in Brisbane.

Sounds like QLD rego is similar to Victorian. Had similar issues getting my car Rego'd one time as the late model tail-lights had clear reverse light
sections but most of the 1970 cars weren't actually wired as it was a factory option, so had to upgrade.
As mentioned, the side lights are Parkers, which means they come on when the ignition is off, and the indicator arm is positioned either up or down (
meant to stop your car getting side swiped in the dark). You should be able to remove the bases and hide the wires as a temporary measure to allow
RWC/ registration until you can find the lenses, as if they're not there they don't have to be working ( Repro come up on Ebay, but try your local VW supplier )

the red n clear are available from Vintage in Sydney 02-9789-1777
but i dont think u need them for Aussie redgo as they were only side nite parking lights for europe thye came on when the ignition was off and
the indicator arm was in the left or right position

Cool, thanks a lot guys, I believe they are actually the parkers,
red/clear. Might just hide em away until i get the car rego'd. That will allow me to drive to work etc, while i get hold of the lenses.
Thanks again you have all helped a lot

the globe in the passenger side but it still doesn't work. Will unscrew it all when i get some time to check it out.

I remember looking at that car, I saw the ad and thought it was a square so went and looked at it. Still took it for a drive though I wasn't after a
fasty, nice car. From memory it was a lady down Rochedale way, and she bought it from a guy in Wynnum who had owned it forever.
I can't remember that bear glued to the dash though, you sure you didn't put it on yourself?

lol
yeah now looking at it properly, I think you're right... probably is a splash mat... Saw the nice split under it though, so i think i know why its
on there.
And to Karmann54, yeah it probably is the one that u drove, she couldn't sell it privately so she used it as a trade in. I bought it as-is from the
car lot. Got her tuned up and serviced a little bit after i bought her, so now she runs beautifully. Although there is a loose bit of tinware
underneath it somewhere that i gotta tighten up, rattles a little

yeah kombinationdetailing its still an auto. For colour scheme im thinking of a Matte, Gun Metal Grey, should look nice with the chrome and red
interior. Being a Signwriter im not sure whether to get her professionally painted or do a complete body wrap with vehicle grade vinyl myself. Pros
and cons: Paint - Pro - Probably a better result... Dont have to do it myself :P Con - Costs a hell of a lot more to do (minimum $65 square metre
opposed to about $25 metre for vinyl), also costs more to re-paint a panel if someone damages it. Vinyl - pro - Costs a lot less per metre... I can
wrap it myself over a weekend... Cheaper to re-wrap a damaged panel than to re-paint... if i decide to change the colour i just rip off the vinyl and
buy 12m of another colour. Con - can only get gloss finish vinyl...
Not sure myself... what do u guys think?
