Beetle petrol smell
for a Super Beetle with the vapour tube up under the dash. Clear tube thing with a vent hose and a lot of cracks in it. It leaks petrol fumes. Can
this be discarded and a plain vent tube run out under the car?

Hi
Yes,
there was one of those in My beetle...
but when restoring it I left it out..
I just ran a new fuel vapour hose up across the top of the boot where the plastic thing was and down the front and under the car... [thats where theyvented in My car]
that original VW hose... would be really brittle and cracked now... but You can't see the cracks because of the cotton covering.. I also replaced
the breather hose
from the tank to the filler neck...
Now no more petrol smells....
At first, I just put a hose from the top of the tank down the front to where it goes under the car...
and i was filling the car one day and noticed all this petrol coming from under my car..... lol
