Red V the Dyno
I reckon this proves cars have personality.
Maybe the Hollywood myth about Herbie has more to it than meets the eye.
Ever had a dog that knew it was about to walk in the front door of the vet and it wasn't going willingly? Drags it's butt to the floor and have to
drag the creature in....
Well this was Red today.
The drive up to Maitland was great. The weather was perfect and the car was going great.
We get to the Dyno shop and after everyone arrives Ian and Rose volunteer Red to be first as he wouldn't be as noisey as the others at 8am.
At this point Rose made the comment, " send in Powder Puff" first refering to Red.
So i back him to the doors and the mechanis gets in. I notice something strange right away. He is revving Red in a way I have never had to. (once he
found reverse)
So Red gets strapped to the dyno and we are about to go. Pretty sure I saw him shaking but paid no attention as it's just a car right?
Next thing I know the shows stopped as the accerlator has amazingly stuck on. Never happened before. Or since.
Ian has to go over and disconnect the linkage to shut old Red down.
The mechanic wasn't too confident after that as all manner things could wrong if it got stuck during the test so a few of us roll Red of the rollers
and back out to the parking lot. Day over for Red.
A few minutes later after pulling at this and adjusting that Red fires up and I take him for a drive. No problems and off we go down the New England
Highway like nothing has happened.
I drive back to the yard and Red sat and watched all the others get on the dyno and flex their muscles like body builders on roids all vying to the be
the best.
The drive home was much like the one up in the morning. Cruising nicely with no hint of anything ever happening.
Guess Red showed me that he doesn't need to know what HP he has as he can do the speed limit just fine.
Thinking back I reckon I could here it giggle as we pushed him off the rollers. Defiant little BUGger.
Thanks Ian and Rose it was good morning.

That sounds like a day to remember! Red showed everyone who's boss! Sounds like he's the king of his own show

atleast it got you back home
i did notice the other day when you put up the pic of your engine someone has relocated the throttle cable and made a pretty elaborate pivot linkage
for that DCNF Weber on your bug
the throttle shafts on those spin the opposite direction to standard solex which is why you see alot of crazy creations when it comes to the linkage
