Targa Rallies ... who has competed in one?

Hey...

I know of Targa Tasmania but am wondering if anyone knows of any other Targa rallies in Australia?
Also interested in hearing of those who have participated (I know Guy Harding did) and of what car they ran, etc.

I did three tarmac events in 2007, I only nav, as the cost of these events is stupid. For me to run the bug in the classic section, on the cheap (ie get mates to service for free, etc) was still a 13 to 15k per event. That includes entry. They guys i nav for spend 20 to 25k....... that doesn't include repairs or getting the car up to spec if needed.

07 Rally tas in a Porker Turbo S
07 Targa Tas in a porker 968 CS
07 Suncoast Classic in a F6 typhoon.

do a search for "suncoast rally crash" on youtube to see the end of the suncoast rally(9 hrs in hospital was not nice!). The driver had some good skill, but i think rushed into tarmac rallies to much....needed to build up over time.

2008 was the year of the dirt rally....

But hopefully 2009 targa i will be in turboS again :)

I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!

Cheers Bix.
I remembering seeing that crash ... ouch!
I won't be rushing in... 5-7 year plan but am trying to make sure I don't do anything in the build that makes it hard to gain entry/comply with the entry regs.

I did Targa Tassie in 2002 in one of my minis,,, was one of the best things i`ve ever done :-) But yeah it`s pretty dear if you don`t have a chunk of sponsors

i have a pile of "In-car" video footage on my website (you`ll need Divx program tho i think... i`m not very computer literat/savvy)

Classic Adelaide is probably far cheaper tho & just as much fun
