Newy drive up to - Tea Gardens / Hawsk Nest Motorfest 14th Mar 2009
Hi
Who want's to come along for a drive up to Hawks Nest Motorfest.
I will be meeting the newy guys at Mc Donalds on the corner in Raymond Terrace leaving at 7.45am, to meet up with Brendan and the guys from up
the coast at Ayers Rock at 8.30am
Ok,
Tea Gardens / Hawks Nest Motorfest is scheduled for Saturday 14th March 2009.
I've never been to this before but last year apparently there were over 300 cars on display.
I was thinking that this might be something that the newcastle folk might be interested in. Bit of a cruise up from Newy for a day of cars of all
descriptions. I'm hoping to make the trip down from Taree, so I will attempt to bring along a few of the guys from up this way.
I thought the southeners could meet the northeners at "Ayers Rock" just north of Karuah & then cruise on into Hawks Nest from there.
This is obviously a little way into the future so we can sort out details as we go, just pencil it in to your diaries.

I will find out some times etc & post them up ASAP. I think it is supposed to start at 8:00
UPDATED INFO FOR THE DAY
I have been advised by the organisers that we should arrive at Hawks Nest Oval at 9:00am to be in place for the official opening at 10:00. We will be
queing with over 300 cars / motorcycles.
-Cost for the day is $10 per car regardless of number of passengers.
-There will be food available (lions club bbq etc) cold & hot drinks.
-20 Trophies on offer.
-Raffles
-Motoring Book store
-NRMA Display (old road side service vehicles)
-Chocolate wheel running all day
-finishes at 2:30 (can leave earlier if you desire)
I reckon we should be looking to depart Ayers Rock by 8:30, which gives us a little bit of time for stragglers (ie. me).
Organisers have advised that we will be able to park together but would like an indication of numbers so they can allocate room for us. So if I could
get a reasonable idea of definites by next friday that would be good.
There is no entertainment for kids provided but the beach is only about 250 metres away (so I'm told). I also believe there may be little in the way
of shade, but you are most welcone to bring an fold up gazebo etc to erect near your car.
I will also post this up on DSK, Kombi Club, & Watercooled forums to try & get numbers boosted up. All VW's welcome as long as they are
VW's. bugs, busses, ghia's, type 3's, buggies, golfs
etc etc etc. Old new or in between.
More as it comes to hand.

Bugger, this clashes with the Sydney VW run to see Eric Bana's film at Blacktown Skyline drive-in, 14th March.
Maybe it's possible to squeeze both things on in the one day...

I must be in premium care, tho not sure as it's a tack on to my ladies membership, they carried my car home a month or so back but only a short
distance, about 4 kays, dosn't matter any way as I won't need that anymore as it's not guna stop on me anymore (positive attitude here). So what

I have a rear tow hook on My beetle but I want to get one like on the front of the late NON Super beetles..
a hook on the RHS of the front torsion bar suspension..
nrma premium care - I suppose it would be good if You travel far from home... like Nambucca Heads..
I never think of breaking down Rose... lol..
but I bet You didn't think it would happen either..
so maybe We need to remember how old the cars We are driving.... etc...

Yeah it's a down hill run on the way home.
Two ureakers are coming as well.
My bug has a new screen now and new wipers that work what a difference wipers make especially when its foggy.
Ian still doesn't know if he's coming along as he can't decide on what bug to bring worse than a women that doesn't know what to wear.
