I have some detail re total notch production numbers ex Clayton Factory. It covers years from 1966 to factory closure in Dec 1975. Most of it is
based on model numbers i.e 316/321 ( Notch Manual) and 316/323 Notch Auto and is month by month, and yearly cumulative.
Email me with some specific requirements.
There is no factory production detail linked to chassis number. It was never kept and never detailed.

Anthony was trying to get this info for me.
I have a 65 Aussie notch. Vin #'s start with 315 however it is Savanah beige (original paint) original interior car.
Also has a badge on the decklid "Deluxe" on it.
Anthony heard that production in australia halted or were slowed down and they already had titled and stamped 65 body and chassis but were built in
67.
we are trying to figure out what truth there is about it or any info on the "Deluxe" badging
here are photos

Deluxe models were only produced in 65, wrap arounds were added randomly to cars in this country , Deluxes should have other interesting bits of
chrome, such as ash tray lip, freshair vent knobs, seat knobs, seat rear arms, do the doors have a plastic lifting lock?

Dave, I think you will find that the ONLY Notch prior to 1969 to have the wrap-around front blinkers in Australia was the fully imported 1500S of
1964-65. Only the Fastbacks from 1966 retained the external trim from the 1500S untill 1969 when the Squares and Notches got them for that year
only.
I noticed that Adam has added up there that some cars had them added randomly but during the 60s some owners cut the bigger holes and added them. I
was involved with a local distributor from the mid 60s here in Blacktown and never saw any evidence of them being fitted to the locally produced
Notches. Maybe in Victoria only??
The chrome bits on the fresh air vent controls were from the 66 fastback (late 65) so once again they found their way onto the other models as
replacements "just to look a bit cooler". Maybe I could admit to being one of these back then! Always helped when your mate was the spare parts manager!!

no it has the door locks with the interior pull handles.
So does anyone have any idea why an Origiinal paint 65 car was painted Savanah beige which is a later color?

that car has to be a 1968 or later build which they used allot of earlier parts.... chassis & vin from as the paint color and rear reflector
housings tell us this, I don't think they were ever changed, the key to this is the paint color and the chrome " short " rear reflectors were not
available on German production Type 3 until 1968 so those parts were not available to use for Australia... and then the paint confirms this,
I'd have to say its a 68' RHD Type 3

Here is Kyles 65 RHD the rear reflectors are exactly the same size. With it being a Deluxe like stated above, it was more chrome. Why wouldnt the
get the shorty reflectors chromed to fill the "deluxe" motto.
maybe its not savanah beige?? looking at swatches they are super close in color
65 color safari beige
67 color savanah beige
I am going to order a birth certificate and see what color it says it is. Its never been detailed and is very oxidized so it could be safari beige

Here is off samba. Under Type 3 colors there is a link to the colors
Here is a 65 Safari Beige notch
looks like mine, severe sun faded paint
here is the direct link
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=89634
I think its Safari beige more than savanah. A birth certificate should say what it is.

things like paint colors & chrome reflectors were introduced by Germany first, the two colors are very close... but yours has no green in it...
definitely the savanah... I believe Kyles car had the 1500 & Volkswagen script added to it ( not that we did it ) plus the smooth lic light
housing, no chrome...
just like we did the pop out installation on it...
how far apart are your vin #'s
