Check those fuel lines and always carry a fire extinguisher!

firefighter 1 said to firefighter 2 "Where did the engine go"

"Must have melted away" said firefighter 3...

funny pic - reminds me of the cover of the 'idiots guide to Veedubs'

i know thats not true - but the photo is convincing.

ditto..from wagga
i had this happen to me about 18 months ago...fortunately the firetruck arrived in time to give my fat chick a drink through the engine lid vents..scary stuff
was due to a thrown fanbelt caught under the pulley and ignited with friction and burnt through the fuel line.
i feelsorry for the guy who owns that one......not nice watching it burn.

pffft ill bet close inspection would reveal the classic clear plastic fuel filter in the engine bay

one word of advice ill say now is if u have a lockable engine lid catch, unlock it b4 driving
by the time u stop if a fire starts its to hot to unlock it
just stand back and watch ur poor vw burn

you're right there joel..when i had a fire in mine ..after the firetruck had made its deposit (i discovered later the combustion chambers full of water) a fireman took his glove off and tried to open the lid...burnt his fingers

Looks like it was a 1303S beetle [L beetle]

Time to take the fuel filter out of the engine compartment...

replace the fuel lines...

Buy a Fire Extinguisher... [or 2]

Why were the firemen looking under the bonnet??
Probably wanted to know what was under there.. lol

A Beetle engine fire really needs to be hit with a fire extinguisher as early as possible...
before the flames go thru to inside the car...
and before You get burnt from the flames as you open the engine lid..

LEE

PS: still a shame to see a beetle that is being driven to be destroyed by fire..
