Rear window defrosters were only on Countries that required them... in North America they were mandatory..
same as dippable rear vision mirrors and passenger side outside mirror etc...
We didn't get any of those extras... in Australia
Most beetles in Australia were made or assembled in Australia so, We didn't get the goodies from the German made beetles.. destined for other countries..

So, when you see what changes etc was made on German made beetles doesn't mean that We got them...

We DID get front Disc brakes in 1968...
something the USA Never ever got on beetles...

Hi

I had one in my old 72 bug, I bought the window new from the VW dealer I worked at in the 70s, it was about $150 back then from memory.

I've kept it for my new bug.

I think Vintage might have them, if not check out VW Heritage in the UK.

Hi

VW Heritage do have them, http://www.vwheritage.com/vwh/VW-Beetle-Parts/Body/Glass/?templateID=vwh&...

They cost £71.74 (about $158AU), the freight would be a killer, maybe get a group buy and ship them all together.

Hi

I forgot to say I took the motor out and sold with a stock 1600.

My sister had a 68 Type 3 Wagon in the early eighties, 1835, trip meter speedo, factory heated rear window, 5x 15"x6 Ronal wheels.

She traded it on a Bluebird, I wonder what happened to those bits.
