Cars on Ebay

Has anyone else noticed how many VW's, especially Beetles are on ebay at the moment?

Seems like everyone is either going overseas, hasn't time, or just want to cut down the number of cars they have!

50 Beetle the other day ... usually hard to top 30.

Why I wonder?

Yea well have YOU ever tried to do one up or repair or restore one???? time to reconsider your price structure ,they used to be relatively cheap once but things have certainly changed in the past couple of years, prices for even s/h stuff has gone thru the roof simply because there's not much left ,so before you go off about prices have a go at getting one up and roadworthy, let alone above average

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

prices have gone a bit silly tho, in the past i was able to buy a beetle for parts for 200-300, now there are none under 1000 and if you get them you are lucky
or maybe i am just a tight ass that doesnt want to pay much

I have to agree it really hits the hip pocket when you fix one. I was going to get some rust cut out for $250 but then thought i might as well fix a few more areas $2500 later plus spending another $1700 on the engine makes my beetle pretty expensive but it does drive alot better than before. Boris at Vuntage sure knows what he is doing.

Now taking donations to help make a Beetle healthy again

Hi

I cant believe how much you have to pay for decent VW.

While my daily 1303 is of the road, I bought a 89 Corolla, rego till November, manual, mags, 1600 cc 16 valve motor, 4 doors, great sound system, has a heap of work done on it by the previous owner. $1700. Really nice to drive

So why would you want to spend many $1000 on a bug? Its a sickness I guess, and I don't want to be cured

Steve

good times are over, the prices will fall as there wont be people to pay the optimistic prices

Yes I have. Maybe you should chill out and not jump to conclusions... maybe you should take a look at some of the over priced rubbish on ebay and then tell me if the prices seem reasonable...

a car is 'worth' what someone else will pay for it, not how much it cost you to maintain or fix it up. As most of the overpriced bugs keep reappearing on ebay, it is safe to assume that no one wants to pay, therefore it is not worth what is being asked.
