Am I missing something? Looks a lot better than many I've seen and the price seems quite reasonable for such an early bug (if it is indeed a '58),
even with the widened guards.
I get that the seller has no idea but I've bought plenty of bargains in that same situation.
A POSSE AD ESSE.
I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.

methinks he's playing dumb, his other items are cars too. Looks like he and "Allen'' might be sharing sales to stay under dealer sales
numbers.
On the other hand, no mention of semaphores, so maybe they don't know or, it's not a '58.
Regards,
Matt.

Maybe playing dumb, maybe not.
I was looking at a Type 3 wagon at a car yard years ago, & the young salesman pulled the bonnet to show me the motor.
I left without showing him where it was.
There are people who know SFA about VW,s.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

Mispelling (sic) is pretty common with Volksy's...
A few years ago had a mate who was a VW trained mechanic, and when the dealership closed down he bought all the special tools, manuals and stuff and
moved to a general automotive place attached to a tyre shop. After a while the manager/owner realised they were getting a fair bit more business -
mostly VW's - so in an effort to grow things even more had written in big letters over their front windows "Volkswagon Specialist".

well its b4 early 60. the old trick to "modernise" them was to fit later indicators and lights and bog over the semaphores.
seen that a few times over the years
but its still got the old pick axe handles, forehead splitter steering wheel and column and no grab handle
mick those are stock gaurds,
just early models have a really defined hump around the headlight makes em look widened
