Ever got carried away helping your children ?
Ever got carried away helping your children ?
" Grade One Homework "
My son Jack was given the task of designing a boat that could carry a match box car in water and be made of paddle pop sticks or recycled containers
etc.
The end result was the ultimate Landing Craft, with a removable tank deck and the capability to carry 14 matchbox cars. The paint scheme was jacks
idea. I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon. 8)

It's like buying them plastic models ,putting them together yourself and not allowing the kids to touch them!!! As for getting carried away, we
bought our eldest son his first car, a nice little Honda Civic (?). Less than a year later he wanted a Mitsu Legnum which we (the wife and I ) fought
tooth and nail against (twin turbo V6) if we hadn't given him the money he'd have got a bank loan with some ridiculously high interest, so he bought
the Mitsu. About 6 weeks ago he booted it hard around a corner and ended up in the side of a wall because he couldn't control it, luckily he wasn't
hurt. It has been sitting in my garage since awaiting parts from NZ which cost us more money because he hadn't insured it fully comp ( I believe
fully comp was about 6 grand for a 19 yr old). The parts arrived aweek ago and cost us another 1 1/2 grand to get them through customs and it hasn't
yet got to the panel shop yet and all this because he knows better So as
for getting carried away -yes! At least number two son listens to me and has a VW

You should be congratulated for taking such an active interest in your kids. The world will be a better place thanks to parents like you.
Well done, Dad. Bet he never forgets a fathers day.
A POSSE AD ESSE.
I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.

Sorry to burst your bubble but homework is for kids, not parents.
On a side note, kids these days can hand in any crap and the teacher tells them it's wonderful, and they're told they're wonderful all day and every
day at school. Even when they play up they get "you're wonderful, BUT......." It's been the norm for 30 odd years and we wonder why there
are/have been generations of youth who think their shit doesn't stink, the world owes them and will fight, stab and shoot at the drop of a hat.
Disappointment, rules, boredom, hard work and failure are part of life but kids have not been learning it until it gets to the stage that they have
committed (often unwittingly) a crime, for some, by that time it's all too late. Early childhood and primary school is where the future is laid.
Just my 2c whinge about the education system. I'm sure you're proud of the paint scheme
Regards,
Matt.

its an A+ for you, not sure about the kid. But I have been there. Played too much of a role in a few projects over the years. cardboard robots, bower
bird dioramas, easter egg creations. Some times because I want to and others because it wouldnt get done in time otherwise. Not as bad as a guy I work
with. He spends more time doing the kids' work than his own. The kids arent even there to watch. It wont do them any favours when they are old enough
for exams.
So long as the kids are doing some of it then its not too bad. Its quality time with them after all. All my dad did for me was bring me home a packet
of chips from the pub.
