[FS - NSW] 1959 Matching Numbers Beetle - No longer For Sale

i have decided to sell one of my Beetles.

Seller's Name – Rod W
Suburb / Post Code – Annangrove, NSW 2156
Item Description – See Description Below
Condition – See Pix & Description Below
Item Cost - Best Offer Above $2500
Car is Unregistered - Engine Number: 2786873, Chassis number 2235214

It is a real country car - classic "Barn Find" - A 1959 "Jupiter Grey" Beetle - A Very Hard To Find Model In This Condition - The Second Owner Has Had This Car For 42 Years - Shedded Last Four Years.

Totally original with semaphore indicators. This is a 95% "rust free vehicle" country car - There is a small amount of rust at the bottom of the drivers side pillar - and the usual dents and scrapes that you would expect on a car of this age.

It would have to have one of the most IMMACULATE floor pans of any beetle this age in the land. The prev owner advised that the 36 HP runs like a clock - but as the car is in storage & the battery is flat, i have not had it running.

The back Bumper is missing, as is the original drivers seat. There is no petrol tank connected (unless you count the upside down fruit juice bottle as a petrol tank  ..... The rest of the trim is in G/C. The headlining has some tears. The sunvisors & floor mats are missing.

One semaphore has a broken lens. The Left front guard is incorrect & the bonnet (Boot) has a small dent, but should be very fixable. It still has it's original 6 Volt Radio in an unmolested dash. Spare bumper, guard and seat.

This is a very solid, original motor, original rust free pan beetle - A pretty solid country vic car that would be a very good basis for a restoration - Either restore or leave as is, as a "RAT LOOK" driver. Certainly not a hard car to get back on the road.

The car is here in Sydney (Annangrove, NSW 2156) - I also have a stunningly original 58 - and have decided that it's a bit silly to have two beetles of essentially the same vintage - so i have decided to sell this one, and replace it with an oval or a mid-late 60's Beetle.

This car cost me $2500 to buy - and another $650 to get it to Sydney. So i guess best offer above $2500 ... and closest offer to $3000 gets the car ... genuine buyers can pm me (Rod) for more info and a time to view the car if required.

Looks pretty good for the price,

I mean would be a good car for someone to tinker with, get on the road and be able to fix things up as they use it as an everyday driver.

From the pictures the paint still looks pretty good, bit of a touch up or leave it as it is.

I have a mate in Victoria looking for a solid 6 volt Beetle.

Give me your mobile and I will put him in touch with you.

Cheers,

Hi David ... thanks very much for the offer ....

i should have posted an update a few days ago ... to date, i haven't had a single enquiry about this beetle, which has surprised me since she is such a good solid original car ...

so since "listing" her for sale on here a while ago ... the lack of interest has really given me time to reflect on what appealed to me when i originally bought her, & has given me time to have a "really good think" about it .......

and i have decided that i am not very likely to get another early beetle that is in such good, original rust free, complete condition for anywhere near the same price ...

so i have decided not to sell her ... and in fact have already started getting everything done that she will need for registration .....

so she is now kitted out with a "good condition" rear bumper & fuel tank, the brakes have been worked over with some parts replaced or renewed.....

the boss mechanic tells me that the motor and gearbox still run like an absolute dream ....

there is still a little work to do.... but i'm going to tuck her away while i get my '58 (which i am going to keep very stock standard and original") registered & on the road ... and then i will give this one a good working over ....

so it looks like it's going to stay in the family .....

but thank you very much for the kind offer - i will amend the thread title....

regards
A|T
