Tranny builders in Oz?

Greetings All,

I’m about to spend AUD $1550 – $1600 (depends a bit on exchange rate but that’s landed and includes all costs) on a 12V ‘reconditioned heavy duty’ swingaxle transmission from a reasonably reputable builder in the US.

Includes super diff, heavy duty shift forks, welded 3rd and 4th gears and a heavy duty side cover. No core required.

If someone reputable locally could do the same for the price I’d rather spend the money here. But I seem to be struggling to find anyone locally who does transmission work.

Any suggestions? - just thought I’d check before spending the bucks o/s.

regards

Dangerous in Qld or Shimmo in NSW would be my pick.

Don't waste your time in OZ at that price you could not even supply the parts alone for $1500. So to get one built would be closser to $3k.

You get what you pay for.

Ask anyone that has a strong trans. The one from the states will probably end up dearer than that by the time you get it.

Yeah but when you shop by spec and not brand it is very hard to come to the same spec without going well over budget.

Price those parts from say Albins and there goes $1500

Do these companies mentioned by the members here supply transmissions outright that have been reconditioned or do you have to give them an old one and they recondition it and give it back to you?

thanks.

Both these guys will build an idvidual box for your needs. If you dont have one, phone them anyway, you never know.

And as for buying by spec or brand name...remember not all parts are created equal.
