1600 Barrells onto a 1300
Hi guys
Is it true that the 1600 and 1300 engines are exactly the same except for the bore size. If thats the case, can I purchase a set of Piston and
barrel assmeblies and just bolt them onto the 1300.
I presume the pudhrod tubes and rocker gear and head will be the same, except maybe the combustion chamber size could be a little bit bigger on the
1600 due to thye extra bore size. If thats the case then all I need to do is get the grinder out and open up the chambers and cc them and I can put
the CR to where I want it.
Am i correct.
Thanks Trev

What is boring out the heads, I am familiar with cyl boring but never heard of head boring. Valves are smaller in the 1300, so does that mean i just
grab a 1600 set (or any aftermarket) of int and exh and fit them, i presume its just simply opening up the seats to accomodate the bigger valves like
on all other types of heads. The springs and retainers should be the same though.
This head boring, do you mean just opening up the chambers to reduce the CR due to the bigger bore.

where the barrel sits inside the head has to be opend up
you will have to remove the valve seats and replace with bigger ones
you would be better off just buying a new set of 1600 heads much cheaper

i had a set of pistons and barrels fitted to my 1300 to make it a 1640.
mechanic showed me that the heads were cracked in various places so got new ones to suit.
