WANTED / SWAP IF POSS - Rear Seat for Beetle
Hi all!
Just got ourselves a 68 bug and the rear seat seems too big to fit properly.
As our kids will be in the back i really need a seat that fits as it should for safety.
If there's anyone who either has one (cheap if possible!) for sale or would like to do a swap (unlikely but thought it was worth asking!)
Not sure what year the seat we have is but will post a pic later.
Would help us out heaps if anyone can assist!
Im in Lara, VIC btw
Many thanks
Neil

Rear seat
Unusual that the rear seat would have been changed, they are usually not so much and as a result don't usually wear out and have to be changed.
Anyway I have one that I have taken out of a 68, its not perfect, and is ripped at the top of the back part under the rear window.
I am not going to use it, so its yours if you want it.
I am in Geelong, so not far from you.
PM me if you want it and I'll send you my details.

Just to confirm....are you offering the part you sit on, or the backrest bit (or both). The bit that doesn't fit in our car is the bit you sit on.
Hope to hear from you soon, and many thanks for the reply and help

it really should fit.... with mine, i need to push down on the frame part of the seat at the bottom to get it to pop in, if i just push on the seat
itself it wont go in. I kinda need to push back on it too, towards the back of the car. Just a thought.

Yeah, it's deffo a weird one Mick.
I've had a 67 before and remember the seat on that was definately not as thick (high) as the one i've got in this 68.
I have tried pushing and squeezing the thing but to no avail!

Thought i'd update this just in case any other newbies have the same thing!
I took Tims kind offer of another back seat, although when i got there we measured up my seat and his seat and they were exactly the same size! Then
Tim luckily spotted that the seat-back in my car was mounted in the (lower) seatbelt holes!
Got home and swapped them around and the seat now fits as it should!
many thanks Tim for your help
