Empi Strut Inserts

Trying to lower 75 front end and have an Empi 9627 Strut and an Empi 9630 Stut Insert ready to go on but the cap only screws up about three threads and then bottoms out. According to the catalogues I have the right parts but it just doesn't seem right. Anyone seen this before or have tips?

Cheers for the reply.

I have loctited the caps in and done them up FT.
The car looks great, handles well and all seems OK. I will keep a close eye on it.
Another forum another guy had the same issue and did the same thing and has never had a problem and when he checked them later, they were still tight.
On another point Empi parts are a bit of a trial, the holes in the bottom of the strut were too small for the bolts and the strut hit the bracket that it bolts into. I would have thought that it would have all fitted together without me having to modify it all.
Anyway, lost a Sunday but the car looks wicked.

yes, everyone's had to open out the mounting holes thats par for the course, but did you have to grind the bottom corner off slightly to get the bottom hole to line up

most 2 bolt empi struts need that done to fit

someone on SBO or samba did it the other day and the picture they took showed the problem beautifullly

I saw that pic on Samba and that is exactly what I had to do too. How do we get this feed back to Empi?

empi is always gonna do a roaring trade because people dont wanna spend the money on better quality parts and suppliers look more attractive if they can sell a cheaper product
