I am the Tool of the Month for April

I'll post this just in case someone else is silly enough to do the same thing!

I went to set the tappets on my KG (1600TP), fanned out the feeler guages to locate the one I always use- it's easy to find coz it's bent @ right angles to get in the gap- yep it's got a 6 on it.

Funny! Why is the one in front got an 8 on it & the one after it got a 10? Well shoot! I've been setting them to 9. I read the damn thing upside down!!

Upshot is when reset to 6thou the engine went as quiet as a mouse & on its regular weekly trip of 320km, it only used 23.6 lites of fuel instead of 25.

Mine has got 007 & 008
and i'm thinking of only carrying the 006 007 & 016 feeler gauges...
I use the 007 to check the 006 isn't too wide...
I have heard of owners doing them to 007 ..

My 006 is also very easy to find...
its also the bent and scratched one...
