Nitrous

I have been playing alot of need for speed lately and if youve ever played it youl know t makes you wanna go out and buy all the mods and get a blinged up ride. But we all know its not that simple.

I was wondering if there is anyone who has put nitrous in there bug.

The nitrous you see in need for speed isn't what it is like in real life. It isn't an instant surge of speed at the push of a button. It is more of a constant thing as in it is part of your fuel mixture. It boosts power but not in the way you see it in games/Fast and the Furious. I'm sure someone will correct something i've said but it is just a simplified explanation from my limited understanding of how it works

Would a factory vw motor be high revving enough to allow a safe surge of nitrous altogether? i spose if u had a small ratio squirt.

its like having boost as the NO2 is an extra oxygen source without any form of forced induction.

the controllers normally launch em at a high rpm speed, otherwise too low and u get a decent enough detonation to blow the motor to bits, or blow the intake manifold.

Its like a firearm though, if used properly, can be bloody well effective :D. Had a mate with a 308 HZ one tonner with the setup. man that was a beast :tu:

hmm.. its got automatic activation too... when armed, will only launch when throttle at WOT and at certain min rev its tuned too, and last for a certain amount of seconds its tuned too... ie: 10 sec, 20 sec squirt.

not press red button when eva u want and launch like a rocket though. gotta get to that rev first. another one of fast and furious mistakes, along with reversing at 90 miles an hr :P must be a tall gear lol

it will have a slight feel/pickup, as the hp curves not always consistently just up. ie: (4300rpm activation)

LOL my dad and i sat watching the second one and counted them changing up something like 18 times. I was thinking when i read this though, why couldn't they have just explained a huge surge of speed with a massive turbo that spools late. So they would be driving along then have that moment where they are pushed into the seats. Alot of boost coming in all of a sudden would have given them the right effect and been atleast partially based in fact

Nitrous oxide rocks.
I had it on my 1835cc back in 1996.
I used to hit it as soon as I let the clutch go and floored it.
It is instant power! no boost lag or even waste gate creep, just grunt instantly.
The torque it adds to the engine is awesome, and the rmp picks up too.
The only reason why you don't hold it down for ages is that the bottle runs out.
Depending on how big the hit is to how long it lasts.
The main reason people pop manifolds and also hurt engines is bad tune up!
It has 33% oxygen instead of 11% in air and is very cold too.

I had a mate who used to start his rotary with a quick hit on crank after he had flattened the seals at the track.
funny.

Go for it I say it rocks, but get it right or you will be re building you engine quickly.

Westi had a nitrous set up on the Junka. Pm him about it as did Morgie Smith on his brown bug.

never had it on a beetle ( YET ;) ) but i ran a 150hp shot wet system on my vz commo ute, it loved it, i did 45000kms on it and went through alot of 10lb bottles in that time, never had an issue, only reason ppl hut their motors is because they set it up wrong.... great bang for buck if u ask me..... iv still got my nos kit waiting for a new project....

There was an article about som1 in the uk doing subi conversions then adding nitrous.
Think I remember it being up around 400hp.
I'll have a dig for you.
