Crankshaft End float shims... Can I use 4 instead of 3

As it says, can I use 4 endfloat shims instead of the specified 3 ????

Engine is a 2.1 waterboxer out of a 89 transporter.

I have 5 shims to choose from if I use the thinnest 4, the endfloat will end up just right.

If I can only use 3 shims then I will need to purchase 3 thicker shims.

Only asking because this has really put a stop to my weekend plans of having my transporter back on the road.

Cheers
Brendan
