Rims for the 4 stud type 3

Hi again all, just a question pertaining to the hub axle of the type 3's, mine has a 4 stud pattern which I am sure most if not all have. I was wondering what is the largest rim I can put on and can other car manufacturers rims fit??..... Failing all of this does anyone know were I can get 5 stud pattern hub axles to go all round on the car fronts and backs ?

Thank you for any information and " keep on dubbin' "

the four stud pattern on Late type 3s is the same as beetles from 1968 on...

the type 3 rims were 1/2 inch wider than beetle rims...

6 inch is usually the maximum... IMHO...?

cheers

17x7 is a squeeze under type3s but can be done

but re; the stud pattern 4x130 was common only to vw bug, type3 and karmann ghia and only late model at that
theres the odd model of skoda that had it and porsche 914 but nothing else which can make rim hunting painfull

Aside from that best option if you dont want ugly 70s wheels like hotwires, jelly beans or 8 spokers is to get some restudded brakes in what ever pattern you like then the options are endless

Cheers for the information guys, has put me on the right path, I will probably try and find some 5 stud hub axles to suit so I can increase my tyre size and change from drums to cross drilled vented discs

I haven't found 5 stud conversions, but I did find a 4 stud disc brake conversion at around $500 on ebay
heres the link,
Ebay Brake Disc Conversion, 4 stud

I aint got the $500 yet but they have a few so I might get lucky

Am still searching for the 4-5 stud conv. though will keep all interested parties up to date on when and where

Hi Guys, try Volks Conversions in Qld (john Sherman) for stud patten changes,
or http://www.vforce.com.au  for a 4 stud wheel , Its only 15 x 6 though. $188 each ( 6.5 kgs )
same ones on the red razor at the Nats.
Or AIRKEWLD in the states, disc brakes any patten & billets to fit.
Noddy.
