Replacing Window Rubbers
Hey all.
I am planning on replacing all my window rubbers in the very near future and I wanted you guys to give me a difficulty rating on re-installing all the
chrome strips that go into the rubbers. The strips that are on there now are all in perfect condition but whether or not thay stay that way during the
taking glass out procedure is another issue.
Personally I would prefer to keep the strips but if it's gonna be too much of a P.I.T.A then I don't think I will bother. I know the rubbers with
the channels are more expensive and that I will probably need to fork out more clams for the strips themselves in the case that the originals get
wrecked but I think I am willing to pay that to keep the original look.
What do you guys reckon?

The difficulty rating is a hard one in itself to give. For me, it is as easy as 1/10. Time and patience with quality rubbers and I can do it
perfectly. Taking the windows out should not damage the strips. Taking the strips out of the rubbers is easier if you cut the rubber with a sharp
knife and dont force the strips out. Putting the rubbers back in can be done with Talc powder or window cleaner. I prefer window cleaner. I would not
use WD40, CRC or Inox or any oils as they will be hard to clean up, and affect the rubber
Some people have no chance doing it as they lack the patience above all.
Personally I think if you have the strips and you like the look of the strips, then I would pay for the best rubbers and the best installer to get it
spot on. You will find it harder to get strips later if you want them, or ruin the ones you have.

half a day to clean all the old crap off the chrome. them half a day to get one front window in ,

Sweet thanks guys. I originally preferred to keep the original look but i covered the chrome strip on one of the windows with black elec tape and I
really didn't mind the look of that either so I have a hard decision to make now.
