Hey! eraser!
Hiya eraser,
As an AutoStick driver myself I had to tell you that this picture............
........in the "semi auto beetle" thread really blew me away. I have never seen the tee junction (yellow arrow) in any AutoStick plumbing. Did you
create that junction? How does it affect shifting? I'd imagine that your shifting would be very harsh and abrupt from a dead stop. Is it?
Had you considered running the small vacuum hose over to the carburetor instead?
This is just a real curiosity for me. I'd like to know more about it.

Yep until i got my second autostick i didn't quite understand the issue
But it does work every time etc, and from stop you got a nice clunk into gear but it worked well, also got a clunk into reverse.
I'm actually in the middle of rebuilding that exact motor
So when i can finally get my hands on a new carbi i will do it correctly.
But with that setup i always had plenty of vacuum

Hiya eraser,
Yep, I thought you might get a clunk going into reverse!
When you replace your carby, do know that the carburetors for AutoSticks were not the same as those for a manual transmission. They had that extra
vacuum port at the 2:00 position from the blow-out plug. Although, if you look around long enough, you can still score an original Solex AutoStick
carburetor, you can modify a Solex built for a manual or an aftermarket Bocar or Brosol to work on an AutoStick.
You might want to come on over and visit us at http://www.auto-stick.com That's
the Volkswagen Automatic Register. A good source of advice for all things AutoStick.

Hiya Joel,
A Bocar with the appropriate vacuum port for an AutoStick straight from the manufacturer? Really? As soon as I read that I went out and checked my
little collection of Bocars. The carbs that I do have with the correct port were ones in which I done the installation of the port. Didn't find any
with a factory installed AS port. I can't recall ever having seen an aftermarket carb with the AS vacuum port.
This is very interesting! Can you direct me to a catalog listing for such a carburetor from Bocar? I'd really like to get a model/serial number for
this beast.

Hiya Joel,
If you should happen to run into a Bocar or Brosol with that all important AS vacuum port, would you be kind enough to post up any identifying numbers
for it? I'd really like to find out if such carburetors are still available.
Hiya eraser,
Sean is the man for AutoStick know-how. Take his advice and do it the right way all the time.
By the way, I've drilled a number of carburetors to accomodate the AS specific vacuum port. Used a hand drill on 'em too. Not a big deal really,
pretty simple and straightforward actually. But I can appreciate your anxiety if you are drilling into a brand new carby.
